SSE Solar Powered EV Charging System Applied into the First Solar Powered Bus in China

May 11th, Nanjing King Long Bus Co., Ltd. launched the first solar powered bus in China, attracted broad attention in the world. The solar powered EV charging system of the bus is self-developed by SSE.

SSE solar powered EV charging system adopts flexible PV cell and intelligent PV control technology with high performance. It can charge the batteries while running the bus, which is a good solution to the current common issues of electric vehicles, such as short range, inconvenient charging and so on. The system contains a solar energy storage device, charging during the daytime and using excess power as a backup power source at night. The Contract was signed between Nanjing King Long Bus Co., Ltd. and SSE earlier this year and reached a bulk purchasing intentions. In the meantime, Dongfeng Motor Corporation will also apply this system to their renewable energy buses in Tibet after verifying the advantages of SSE solar powered EV charging system.
